Voice mode arrives as the voice assistant market heats up. Amazon is updating Alexa Plus with generative AI, Apple is rebuilding Siri with Apple Intelligence in iOS 27, and Google Assistant got Gemini upgrades. Claude's advantage: it's not tied to a specific device, working via mobile app and web.
The real story is positioning: Anthropic is transforming Claude from a text chatbot into a multimodal assistant. Voice is step one. If real-time vision (camera) and actions follow, Claude becomes a direct competitor to Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant — without needing its own hardware.
