Luto and Echo Generation: Midnight Edition are free on the Epic Games Store until tomorrow, July 23 — after that the promotion ends and both games return to full price. Luto is a first-person psychological horror title clearly inspired by Hideo Kojima's P.T., set in a home that becomes the stage for the protagonist's grief and anxiety. Echo Generation is a turn-based RPG with a voxel-art look and an old-school synthwave soundtrack, set in a 1990s suburban town that starts getting supernatural visitors.
Starting Wednesday (7/23), Foretales — a deck-building game where the cards you choose shape the story — and Death's Gambit: Afterlife, an action-platformer blending soulslike combat with metroidvania exploration, take their place.

The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is also leaving Steam's "free forever" promotion this Thursday, 7/23. It's a narrative RPG where every choice — from childhood to old age — shapes the protagonist's fate, backed by a strong morality system.
Meanwhile, Yet Another Zombie Defense HD, a top-down co-op zombie survival shooter, remains free with no confirmed end date so far.
What to watch
Claiming any of these games — even without installing them right away — locks in permanent ownership, even after the promotion ends. Epic swaps its weekly free game every Thursday; Steam gives little to no advance notice before pulling a "free forever" promo, so it's worth checking in often.
