SpaceXSI Launches 'X Subscription,' a Unified Bundle for Grok, Cursor and X Premium

SpaceXSI Launches 'X Subscription': The Bundle That Unites AI, Code and Social Media

SpaceX Super Intelligence (SpaceXSI), the artificial intelligence arm of SpaceX operating under the brand formerly known as xAI, announced on Tuesday (October 12) the launch of "X Subscription," a single subscription plan that bundles Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium into one offering. The move marks a significant tactical shift in the increasingly competitive AI subscription market and signals the company's intention to consolidate its product ecosystem under a single commercial umbrella.

The announcement was made through the x.ai website and SpaceXSI's social media channels, with details about four paid tiers (plus a free plan) already available on the pricing page. Global rollout will occur "over the next few days," the company said.

The pricing structure

X Subscription offers five distinct tiers, starting with a free plan that provides basic access to Grok chat, an initial credit for Cursor's coding agents and standard X platform features. The Plus plan costs US$ 8/month and includes access to Grok Chat, Voice, Imagine and Build, Grok API and Cursor for coding, along with X Premium features: the verification badge, advanced creator tools and fewer ads in the feed.

The Premium plan (US$ 30/month) expands on all of that with access to Grok Bot, the latest Grok models, AI-generated images and videos, faster responses, ad-free scrolling across most X surfaces and the ability to secure an exclusive handle. For Cursor, it includes code hosting, cloud agents and automations.

The two higher tiers — Super (US$ 100/month) and Ultra (US$ 200/month) — add priority access to Grok models during peak hours and early access to all products, with usage capacity 50 times greater than the Plus plan respectively.

An important detail: the Premium plan alone delivers more usage per dollar than the individual plans it replaces. The company estimates that SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium, when sold separately, cost roughly US$ 90 per month combined — the new Premium delivers more features for US$ 30.

Why now?

The move comes at a strategic moment. SpaceXSI (formerly xAI, acquired by SpaceX in February 2026 and renamed in early October) faces an increasingly crowded AI subscription market. OpenAI charges US$ 200/month for ChatGPT Team and US$ 100/month for ChatGPT Pro. Anthropic charges US$ 100/month for Claude Pro. Cursor charges up to US$ 40/month for its professional plans. Apple charges US$ 19.99/month for Apple Intelligence. Amazon charges US$ 20/month for Kindle Unlimited and US$ 15/month for Prime Video.

By consolidating everything into a single bundle, SpaceXSI attempts to capture value from three different markets simultaneously: conversational AI consumers, software developers and X social network users. Instead of relying on the success of a single product, the strategy aims to create a lock-in effect based on combination — who pays for the bundle won't migrate to competitors because they'd lose access to Grok, Cursor and X Premium all at once.

The commercial logic is straightforward: lower purchase friction. Instead of evaluating three separate subscriptions (do I need Grok? And Cursor? And X Premium?), the user faces a single decision. This is particularly effective for potential customers who would value at least two of the four products — they now pay less for the bundle than for the individual plans combined.

The ecosystem under the SpaceXSI brand

The X Subscription reflects the complete transformation the company has undergone in less than a year. In February 2026, SpaceX acquired xAI for an undisclosed sum. In August, it completed the acquisition of Cursor, the AI-powered coding assistant startup that integrates with VS Code. The combination of these businesses resulted in an ecosystem spanning conversational interaction (Grok), autonomous execution (Grok Bot), assisted coding (Cursor) and social presence (X Premium).

The company is also launching team plans — Premium, Super and Ultra — at US$ 30, US$ 100 or US$ 200 per seat, with SSO control, administration, consolidated billing, usage analytics and SOC 2 compliance. Enterprise plans are available for larger organizations.

What to watch

The main question is retention. SpaceXSI is offering more usage per dollar than previous plans — excellent for conversion, but potentially unsustainable long-term if prices must rise. The question isn't whether prices will go up, but when and how.

Furthermore, consolidation into a single package means X depends increasingly on the integrated experience: if Grok fails, Cursor breaks or X has bugs, the bundle subscriber's entire experience is compromised. This is an ambitious bet for a company still maturing its AI stack at global scale.

The AI subscription market is consolidating rapidly. While OpenAI, Anthropic and Google compete on models and features, SpaceXSI is playing a different game: not selling the best AI, but selling the best integrated experience. The X Subscription is the first move of its kind — and what comes next may redefine what "subscription" means in the world of artificial intelligence.
